ABOUT ZANE
20-year-old Zane Maloney is the first ever Formula 2 driver from Barbados, and the wider Caribbean. With over 16 years of circuit racing under his belt, having started at the age of 3, Zane has continued to prove his potential and skills throughout his karting and single seater career.
ABOUT ZANE
Zane’s first encounter with a racing circuit came at just three years old when he competed in
his first karting competition in Barbados, finishing second. Zane then traveled overseas at the
age of five to represent Barbados at the Caribbean Karting Carnival in Jamaica. Over the coming
years, Zane would go on to test his skills against drivers in the USA and United Kingdom, winning on his Easy Kart series debut.
Zane started his 2023 F2 season finishing on the podium in his debut Feature Race. He went on to complete an impressive rookies season, collecting four podium appearances to finish tenth in the standings, and third among the rookies.
Zane will continue racing in the series with Rodin Motorsports for a new F2 campaign in 2024.
Post season action saw Zane confirmed as Formula E team, Andretti, Season 10 Reserve and Development Driver.
2022 saw Zane enter the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
Zane began this season with a difficult first four rounds getting to grips with the championship. Although it proved tough, It was during this time that he showed immense pace, coupling a pole position in Imola with a fastest lap in Bahrain. It was not long until he was able to match his evident pace with race results, securing his first podium finish in the Budapest Feature Race, as well as a pole position at Zandvoort, and three consecutive Feature Race wins in the final three rounds to secure his Vice Champion status.
Post season excitement continued for Zane when he was honored by the BRDC with The John Cooper Trophy as the highest placed British or Commonwealth driver.
An announcement then followed that Zane would be signed as a Red Bull Racing Junior Driver and a Formula 1 Reserve Driver in 2023.
Most recently Zane received the FIA Rookie of the Year Award.
Zane ended his 2021 season of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine with a strong fourth overall in the championship, having taken a race win and 9 podium finishes, and consistently fighting at the front end of the field. One of his greatest achievements to date has been winning in the streets of Monaco and having the Barbados flag behind him while listening to his national anthem being played on Grand Prix Sunday at the most prestigious Formula 1 event on the Calender.
This strong season sling shotted him into what would prove to be a stellar 2022 year.
The Euroformula Open Championship was a developmental year for Zane, where he spent the year learning much of the variables associated with setting up a car in conjunction with his team of engineers. He had the opportunity to learn, and grow is skills in a single-seater open wheel formula racing car. He finished this championship 8th overall.
Zane made his British F4 debut, making his intentions clear from the very first race, by setting the fastest lap and finishing on the podium in his first ever single-seater race. A streak and record of seven consecutive race wins gained the attention of the historic British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC)m inducting the Barbadian as the first driver from the Caribbean into the Rising Stars scheme.
Zane ended 2019 by securing the overall British F4 Championship title with a total of 10 race wins, 6 pole positions and 5 fastest laps.
Between 2017 & 2018, Zane entered the WSK World Championships and CIK FIA European Karting series to race against the world’s best drivers. He scored multiple wins, pole positions and fastest laps, with his highest performance in the WSK OK Champions Cup placing 3rd.
